In this article you will learn:

- His approach to reducing burdensome regulations.
- The direct link between strong small businesses and a robust local economy.
Our local small businesses are the backbone of Maryland's economy and the heart of our communities, right here in places like
Southern MD, PG County, Anne Arundel County and across the entire district. They create jobs, drive innovation, and contribute to the unique character of our neighborhoods. For too long, these vital engines of our economy have faced unnecessary hurdles and challenges. As your Congressman, I will be a strong advocate for our small business owners, working tirelessly to create an environment where they can flourish.
My plan to support our small businesses rests on three key pillars:
Tax Incentives: We need to put more money back into the hands of small business owners. I will champion targeted tax relief measures, including potential tax credits for hiring local residents, simplified tax codes for small enterprises, and deductions for qualifying business expenses. These incentives will free up capital that can be reinvested in growth, expansion, and job creation right here in Maryland.
Access to Capital: Starting and growing a small business often requires access to funding. I will work to expand access to loans, grants, and other forms of capital for entrepreneurs and small business owners. This includes supporting initiatives that connect small businesses with lenders and investors, as well as exploring innovative financing options to fuel their growth. We must ensure that local banks and credit unions have the resources and incentives to invest in our community's job creators.
Reducing Regulatory Burdens: Overly complex and burdensome regulations can stifle innovation and hinder the growth of small businesses. I am committed to streamlining regulations, cutting red tape, and ensuring a more predictable and business-friendly environment. We will review existing regulations to identify those that are unnecessary or disproportionately impact small businesses and work towards common-sense reforms that protect consumers and the environment without hindering economic opportunity.
By focusing on these key areas, we can create a pathway for our small businesses to thrive, leading to a stronger and more prosperous local economy for all of Maryland's 5th district. When our small businesses succeed, our communities succeed. More jobs are created, local economies become more vibrant, and our neighborhoods become stronger.
In conclusion, supporting our small businesses through targeted tax incentives, increased access to capital, and the reduction of unnecessary regulatory burdens is a cornerstone of my plan to build a stronger local economy in Maryland's 5th district. I am dedicated to being a partner with our small business owners, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to succeed and create opportunities for our communities.
